The 12-Step Cure to Event Addiction
A comprehensive four-lesson course to take your organization beyond special event fundraising
Special events: they’re fun (maybe); they make lots of money (they do?). Our board members love them (when they show up) and our staff members enjoy doing them (yeah, right!).
If your nonprofit is addicted to special events and you think they are the only way you can raise money, you will not want to miss this course. We’ll talk about the real costs of special events, how you can choose the right events for your organization, and how to use events as a springboard to more cost-effective, less stressful, and more productive types of fundraising.
Lesson One: 45 minutes
Why are we addicted to events?
How do we break this addiction?
Step 1: Evaluate each of your events
Step 2: Evaluate your entire development program
Lesson Two: 45 minutes
Step 3: Review your event evaluations
Step 4: Choose which events to keep
Step 5: Create a development plan
Lesson Three: 45 minutes
Step 6: Establish a development committee
Step 7: Board development
Step 8: Build your infrastructure
Step 9: Create your case for support
Lesson Four: 45 minutes
Step 10: Build an annual fund
Step 11: Establish research and cultivation strategies
Step 12: Establish a major and planned giving program
When you subscribe to this course, you get ALL my courses. Plus new courses as I add them!
I used to sell this course separately for a higher, though still popular, price. In fact, I sold all of my online courses separately, as well. If you were to sign up for all of them (and some did), it would cost you over $5,000.
You can see a list of all of the courses I include with this subscription here:
Sure, I worked hard on my courses. I've poured my decades of experience into every one of them — and enjoyed watching the enrollments! (Wouldn't you?) So, why am I offering an annual subscription to ALL of my courses for as low as $29 per month?
It's because of a simple but powerful idea. What if I were to do what no one else in the nonprofit world is doing: offer all my courses for less than the price of just one? Would making them THIS affordable take enrollments into the stratosphere, so that I actually increase my earnings compared to charging separate (and higher) fees for each course? Yes!
Even more exciting, by providing my nonprofit colleagues with EVERY course I create, including new ones I add during the subscription period, for one low annual subscription price, I serve my life's mission of educating as many of my colleagues on vital nonprofit topics as possible. This is far more important to me than earnings on my courses.
When you subscribe, not only can you take any or all of my current courses, but you'll have full access to the new courses I'm creating.
The thing is, I'm still experimenting with the price. If I charge too little, I worry that my peers won't value what I'm offering. (It's amazing how the price of something establishes perceived value, isn't it?) On the other hand, if I charge too much, I'll price some nonprofit practitioners out of the courses, and that cuts against my life's work. So, I'm starting with the lowest subscription fee I could possibly charge which is pretty insane. I mean, I'm offering 78 hours of instruction, all of which qualifies for CFRE Continuing Education, for less than the price of just one course.
Just to be upfront, I'm still a bit nervous about this, so I only guarantee to hold this price if you take advantage of it and sign up before I add my next course, which I'm working on now. The good news (for you) is that, once you subscribe you can, if you wish, renew at the same low price you subscribed at today and continue to access all my courses, including new courses as I roll them out. Even if I'm charging a higher price when your renewal comes up, you'll still be able to renew (if you want to) at today's price.
